The Director of Government Affairs will play a pivotal role in shaping the Company's government relations and public policy strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, this position demands a highly skilled professional with an extensive network and the expertise to navigate complex, multi-state regulatory frameworks.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to distill intricate statutory and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable business strategies. You will be responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory changes and providing sound, business-oriented recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor and analyze proposed and enacted legislation across federal, state, and local levels, focusing on multi-state regulatory implications for the Company.
- Transform complex regulatory requirements into succinct, actionable guidance for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external lobbying professionals on critical initiatives affecting the Company and its affiliates.
- Draft comprehensive summaries, memoranda, and analyses detailing the operational and strategic implications of public policy and regulatory changes.
- Advise cross-functional teams on legislative and regulatory matters, facilitating compliance across various states.
- Support the Chief Legal Officer in developing and executing effective government affairs strategies aligned with Company goals.
- Assist in the creation of position statements, comment letters, and internal guidelines regarding proposed regulations.
- Remain informed on emerging policy trends to proactively identify risks and opportunities for the Company.
- Engage in legislative sessions, regulatory hearings, and industry forums, providing timely updates to senior management.
- Support industry engagement efforts, including coordination with external legal counsel.
- Conduct research to pinpoint emerging public policy risks and opportunities, particularly in multi-state environments.
- Prepare internal briefings and presentations on key legislative and regulatory issues for executive leadership.
- Work alongside cross-disciplinary teams to ensure cohesive and compliant government affairs practices.
- Foster professional relationships with government agencies and industry organizations under senior leadership guidance.
- Undertake additional government affairs tasks and special projects as needed.
