Role Overview
As the lead for Global Affairs and Government Relations in Japan, you will be responsible for cultivating and managing ai&'s relationships with governmental entities, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and policy stakeholders in Japan and pivotal international markets. The significance of AI infrastructure is increasing in strategic importance to governments globally, and Japan is no exception. You will position ai& as a reliable and constructive partner within the national AI ecosystem.
You will collaborate closely with the leadership team to shape ai&'s policy stances, represent the company at government and industry forums, and adeptly navigate the regulatory and political landscape as we expand our data center infrastructure in Japan. Additionally, you will contribute to the overarching global affairs strategy as ai& extends its reach across Asia, North America, and beyond.
Responsibilities
Government Relations in Japan: Establish and maintain relationships with pertinent Japanese government ministries, agencies, and officials, including METI, MIC, and counterparts at the digital agency. Represent ai& in government interactions, fostering trust through consistent and meaningful engagement over time.
Regulatory Navigation: Monitor and interpret the regulatory landscape relevant to ai&'s operations in Japan, including data center regulation, AI policy, data sovereignty, security mandates, and utility regulations. Keep leadership updated and advise on compliance and strategic positioning.
