The Core Systems Engineering Team, part of the Operations & Infrastructure (O&I) Technology Platform, plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integration infrastructure that facilitates seamless communication among various enterprise applications and business lines.
This team serves as the backbone of Visa’s global infrastructure, overseeing all hardware and operating systems that drive our authorization, clearing, and settlement systems for credit and debit transactions. We manage one of the most robust and critical system environments in the industry, supporting 89% of Visa’s revenue. Our engineers ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of systems that facilitate global financial transactions, spanning mainframe to modern platforms.
The Director of Core Systems Engineering will lead a team focused on Mainframe systems engineering, guiding technology investments related to the IBM z/OS operating system, networking, storage administration, and automation to support Visa’s Core Clearing and Settlement applications. This role reports to the Senior Director of Core Systems Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct management and strategic direction for the Mainframe Systems Engineering, Orchestration, and Storage teams.
- Guide design and engineering support for z/OS, z/TPF, and z/VM infrastructure to build a responsive, high-performing enterprise engineering team.
- Oversee technology investments related to z/OS, z/TPF, and z/VM operating systems, networking, and automation in support of Visa’s Core applications.
- Help shape an enterprise-wide technology vision for the zSeries platform, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
- Collaborate with other teams under the Senior Director, including hardware, storage, automation, and principal engineers.
- Engage with management across Global Systems Engineering and Systems Operations.
This is a hybrid position; the specific in-office days will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
