The Director of Assessment and Referral will oversee the processes and procedures of the Intake department. This leadership role involves developing and implementing high standards of care relevant to patient services while supervising all personnel responsible for direct admissions and coordinating admissions review services. The Director will cultivate positive relationships with referral sources and actively assist with the marketing efforts for the facility. This position requires availability for after-hours on-call work as necessary for Intake-related needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and supervise assessment and admissions services within the hospital and by the community mobile assessment team.
- Identify and oversee the admission operations to align with community and facility needs.
- Establish relationships with referral sources to enhance facility marketing initiatives.
- Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Responsible for scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate departmental coverage.
- Ensure staff receive comprehensive training in assessment and admission procedures.
- Collaborate with Medical Staff, the Director of Clinical Services, CNO, and CEO regarding the acceptability of admissions.
- Act as a representative of Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, distributing information about services to community healthcare entities in a positive and educational manner.
- Stay informed on referral sources and interact effectively with patients, peers, and staff regarding appropriate treatment options.
- Understand and communicate the disease pathology related to behavioral conditions and treatment models.
- Facilitate patient access to the appropriate level of care and setting.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, and healthcare professionals in the community.
- Exhibit proficiency in assessing patients’ crises and clinical indicators.
- Prepare timely written reports of assessment findings, including recommendations for care and treatment needs.
- Evaluate the necessity for involuntary hospitalization assessments.
- Provide essential clinical information to physicians and Intake staff to ensure a smooth patient transition.
- Maintain knowledge of legal guidelines regarding EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
- Analyze assessment and admission data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
