Join our innovative and forward-thinking team at Allyeenergy as a DC Fast Charging Integration Engineer. This pivotal role is essential to our mission of advancing DC fast charging integration with our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The ideal candidate will spearhead the development of system architecture, software integration, and technical execution, enabling our BESS to recharge effectively from public DC fast chargers and seamlessly integrate existing EV charging hardware into our energy storage solutions.
This position focuses on intelligent system integration rather than developing EV chargers from the ground up, aiming to create a cohesive link between DC fast charging infrastructure and battery energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Integration
- Design and implement system architecture to incorporate third-party DC fast chargers from manufacturers like Alpitronic, ABB, and Kempower with Allye's BESS.
- Develop interface specifications and communication protocols to connect EV charging hardware with our battery management systems.
- Formulate integration strategies for various charging standards including CCS1, CCS2, NACS, and CHAdeMO.
- Architect power electronics pathways for bidirectional energy flow between BESS and charging infrastructure.
Software Integration & OCPP Implementation
- Lead software integration initiatives with our control systems, ensuring compliance with OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) versions 1.6 and 2.0.1.
- Create and manage communication interfaces for charging session management, billing systems, and real-time monitoring.
- Develop comprehensive API frameworks for smooth integration with charge point management systems (CPMS).
- Implement security measures and encryption protocols for secure data exchanges.
- Utilize WebSocket, MQTT, REST APIs, and other communication protocols effectively.
DC Fast Charging Network Integration
- Facilitate the ability of Allye's BESS to recharge from public DC fast charging networks such as Tesla Supercharger, Electrify America, and ChargePoint.
- Devise adapter strategies and interface solutions for various charging connector types.
- Implement intelligent charging algorithms that optimize energy flow based on grid conditions, battery status, and charging rates.
- Create interoperability solutions to ensure compatibility with both existing and upcoming charging standards.
Hardware Interface Development
- Design electrical interfaces and control systems that integrate with existing EV charging hardware.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to tackle integration challenges and manage thermal requirements.
- Establish safety systems and emergency protocols for high-voltage DC charging integration.
- Develop testing procedures and validation protocols for integrated charging systems.
