Role Overview
As the Data Science Manager, you will spearhead analytical initiatives that fuse AI, machine learning, geospatial analysis, and economic modeling to facilitate evidence-based decision-making. You will oversee end-to-end data processes—from conception to execution—collaborating with a diverse team of data scientists, economists, and policy specialists to create impactful tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead data-centric projects within the realms of public policy and economics.
- Design, automate, and enhance data pipelines and analytical workflows.
- Utilize AI, ML, and geospatial methods to derive insights from satellite imagery, trade data, and macroeconomic statistics.
- Construct and maintain interactive dashboards, ranking systems, and predictive models.
- Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable policy recommendations.
- Guide junior data scientists, ensuring high code quality, thorough documentation, and adherence to best practices.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in leading data projects or managing small teams.
- 5+ years of proficiency in Python.
- 5+ years of expertise in SQL.
- 5+ years of experience working with APIs.
- Background in machine learning or predictive modeling.
- Experience in developing data pipelines or ETL processes.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Exceptional English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with geospatial data (e.g., GIS, satellite imagery, GeoPandas, QGIS).
- Familiarity with economic or policy-related datasets.
- Experience in consulting or public sector projects.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Exposure to TensorFlow or PyTorch.
