About the job
From historic prints to digital resources: you guide customers to find their way. As a Customer Service Representative, you are the face of the National Library of the Netherlands. You assist visitors at the counter, answer their inquiries, and ensure everyone can enjoy our physical and digital collections comfortably.
About the National Library of the Netherlands
Established in 1798, the KB, the national library of the Netherlands, is increasingly in the societal spotlight. Together with over 600 colleagues and our network partners, we work to make the Netherlands smarter, more skilled, and more creative every day. We strive to make accessible what has been written about and in the Netherlands, both physically and digitally, aiming for a society where everyone can participate fully.
Your Responsibilities
As a Customer Service Representative, you will be the primary contact for visitors to the KB. You will be working at various counters including the reception desk, information desk, lending desk, or special collections desk. In addition, you will assist customers digitally, provide instructions, and contribute ideas to enhance our services. You will collaborate with colleagues in a close-knit team and have opportunities for personal development within a socially impactful organization.
- You provide customers with information and access to our digital and physical collections.
- You process requests such as interlibrary loan transactions and membership applications.
- You give instructions and occasionally conduct tours for visitors and users, or workshops on our digital services like Delpher and DBNL.
- You work together in rotating schedules, including evening and Saturday shifts.
“You have direct and meaningful contact with customers: from occasional visitors to researchers.”
