Sonic Powersports is on the lookout for a dedicated Controller to oversee operations at our newly acquired Harley-Davidson dealerships in California and Florida. As a part of Sonic Automotive, the Controller will ensure robust financial controls are established and adhered to in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and our company policies. This role entails leading the dealership office team, guaranteeing the prompt and precise execution of all assigned accounting and financial duties.
The Controller will act as a crucial business partner to the dealership General Managers, working under the guidance of the Regional Controller. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, safeguarding company assets, and ensuring compliance with all internal policies and procedures. Collaborating with the Powersports Central Office and corporate teams, this role will oversee all financial operations within the dealerships, encompassing payroll, daily accounting tasks, accounts payable and receivable, as well as asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the accuracy of all financial records and books at all times.
- Clearly communicate and enforce adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance with financial standards and company policies.
- Supervise, train, and mentor dealership office staff.
- Regularly audit balance sheets and supporting schedules, proactively addressing discrepancies while keeping the Regional Controller informed of any issues or potential liabilities.
- Complete month-end closing duties within required deadlines.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, monthly work papers, and necessary reports.
- Reconcile and submit sales and use tax filings for all locations punctually and accurately, ensuring compliance with all relevant government fees and licensing requirements.
- Monitor expenses to ensure responsible dealership operations within established financial guidelines.
Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 / year, based on experience
