As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient care under the guidance of licensed Occupational Therapists. Your responsibilities will include documenting all therapy services to facilitate accurate billing, adhering to treatment plans, and complying with both federal and state regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver therapy services as outlined in the patient’s Plan of Care established by the Occupational Therapist (OTR).
- Work under the supervision of an OTR, ensuring compliance with all state and federal guidelines.
- Communicate promptly with the OTR regarding any changes in patient condition or treatment.
- Accurately document daily therapy notes and assist with progress notes, discharge summaries, and monthly reports as needed.
- Timely submission of billing, payroll, and expense documentation.
- Engage with patients, their families, referring physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Participate in continuing education to stay updated on clinical skills and techniques.
- Contribute to care planning meetings and family training sessions to discuss patient progress.
- Adhere to facility policies and procedures to maintain safety for both patients and staff.
- Ensure therapy equipment is in proper working order and report any damages as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Attend required meetings, in-services, and training sessions as directed.
- Collaborate with team members to align treatment goals.
- Maintain valid licensure and certifications as required by state regulations.
