Position Overview
We are in search of a skilled Carrier Sales Representative who will be instrumental in expanding the business for an existing customer account. This role demands close collaboration with senior capacity and operations leadership, emphasizing proactive capacity procurement through direct outreach to carriers instead of relying solely on load boards. Ideal candidates will possess extensive connections within the carrier market and a proven track record of success.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively contact carriers to secure capacity for customer freight, focusing on direct communication rather than reliance on DAT/load boards.
Collaborate with an in-office team member to ensure effective load coverage and capacity solutions.
Build and sustain relationships with mid-sized to small carriers that align with our company’s quality standards.
Negotiate competitive rates while maintaining carrier reliability and service quality.
Coordinate multi-modal shipments and oversee logistics across various transportation types.
Utilize McLeod TMS for effective load management, tracking, and documentation.
Engage in clear communication with high-visibility customers and internal operations teams.
Provide regular updates on status and engage in proactive problem-solving for any transit-related issues.
Maintain a reliable network of carriers and continually develop these relationships.
Achieve or surpass performance metrics and capacity-related goals.
Ensure smooth processes from pickup to delivery.
