Join OpenRouter as a Business Development Representative and be the vital first contact for businesses eager to explore our innovative solutions. In this role, you will qualify incoming leads, educate potential clients about LLM optimization, and build a strong pipeline for our Account Executives. This position is ideal for individuals at the start of their sales journey who aspire to become experts in AI and LLM technologies, establish robust sales processes, and advance into closing roles within a dynamic startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Promptly respond to inquiries from potential customers, ensuring efficient communication.
Assess leads based on established criteria and provide high-quality opportunities to Account Executives, complete with detailed context.
Educate prospects on how OpenRouter can assist in optimizing LLM costs, enhancing performance, and selecting the best models for their specific requirements.
Ensure meticulous CRM management by maintaining comprehensive notes on prospects' needs, objections, timelines, and potential opportunity sizes.
Collaborate effectively with Account Executives to streamline the lead handoff process and integrate feedback regarding lead quality.
Work alongside the Marketing team to provide insights on campaign effectiveness, messaging clarity, and lead source performance.
Achieve or surpass monthly targets for qualified opportunities and scheduled meetings.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years in a BDR, SDR, or inside sales role within a B2B SaaS environment.
Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a data-driven setting.
Exceptional discovery skills, with the ability to ask insightful questions, listen attentively, and identify genuine business needs.
Capability to rapidly grasp technical products and convey their benefits clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in crafting engaging, personalized outreach.
Experience with CRM systems and familiarity with sales tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as the inaugural BDR hire at a startup or fast-growing company.
Background in an API-first, AI infrastructure company or a related technical domain.
Familiarity with prompt engineering and LLM evaluation.
