As a vital contributor to the Albireo Energy team, the BMS Programmer will play an essential role in ensuring the success of our software design initiatives, database development, and adherence to best practices in programming building automation systems (BAS). This position involves collaborating closely with project managers and engineers to create effective solutions for a variety of control projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and related documents to clarify project objectives.
- Decompose project scope into manageable tasks and coordinate with the Project Manager for effective scheduling.
- Participate in or review meeting minutes from graphics review sessions with clients.
- Submit programming-specific Requests for Information (RFIs) to the System Engineer, Project Manager, and Engineering Manager.
- Implement project operations as defined in project documentation, applying established standards and libraries.
- Support the startup and commissioning of large systems, including air handling units (AHUs), chiller plants, and other utility systems, including the setup of workstations, servers, and networks.
- Work both independently and collaboratively within small teams.
- Coordinate with field technicians to troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
- Identify and rectify BMS integration challenges.
Qualifications:
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Experience may substitute for a degree, with a minimum of 3 years in BAS programming.
- Proficiency in Schneider Ecostruxure, Tridium Niagara, and/or JCI CCT/Metasys.
- Solid understanding of mechanical HVAC systems and their operational sequences.
- Experience with building automation programming languages (Function Block, Ladder, or text-based) and other programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, VBA). Tridium system expertise is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and network wiring and BAS component programming.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly with MS Office (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, Visual Basic, and Visio.
- Strong interpersonal skills to professionally represent the company to clients and external stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of Modbus and BACnet protocols and their integration into BAS systems.
- Willingness to travel to construction sites for commissioning and startup tasks.
