This role is part of Unilabs UK’s Tissue Sciences team, dedicated to delivering exceptional Pathology testing services to our patients and clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct histopathology laboratory procedures, including dissection (A–C graded specimens), embedding, microtomy, frozen sections, immunohistochemistry, and digital pathology.
- Organize, prioritize, and manage scientific workloads to ensure the timely delivery of diagnostic services.
- Examine, document, photograph, and dissect specimens accurately, generating provisional macroscopic reports as needed.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) according to established protocols, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Support quality management initiatives through audits, validation, verification, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Train, supervise, and mentor Biomedical Scientists, trainees, and support personnel.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new techniques and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, infection control, clinical governance, and regulatory standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD), maintain HCPC registration, and contribute to educational programs.
- Communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery.
