Our Mission
The Driver Operations team is dedicated to executing weekly vehicle evaluations that support collaborative development and validation efforts across various departments. Each week, we prioritize a test plan shaped by incoming requests, delivery schedules, and overarching business goals. Our commitment to real-time communication and tight coordination ensures that we meet testing objectives and deliver actionable feedback efficiently. We are consistently on the road, conducting test cycles, facilitating special R&D projects, and showcasing our team's initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders.
Your Role
As an Automotive Test Engineer (On-Road), your primary responsibility will be to design and conduct vehicle-based assessments of Mapbox’s navigation and location technologies across both production and development vehicles. This role emphasizes validating system performance in real-world driving conditions, identifying challenges, and converting field observations into valuable insights for engineering teams.
You will work at the intersection of software, mapping, and automotive systems, aiding product development through systematic testing, thorough reporting, and close collaboration with engineering, product, and partner teams.
In this position, you will:
Conduct on-road vehicle testing to assess navigation performance, positioning precision, and system functionality
Gather and analyze testing requests from engineering, product, and partner teams
Translate requirements into concise and repeatable test scenarios
Establish and prioritize weekly testing plans based on scope, urgency, and resource availability
Coordinate test implementations among internal teams and OEM testing partners
Assist with vehicle demonstrations, product launches, and validation initiatives
Identify bugs, performance issues, and feature opportunities through structured feedback and reporting
