Crunchyroll is a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment in the U.S. and Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan, both headquartered in Tokyo under the umbrella of Sony Group Corporation.
Role Overview
As an Associate Producer, you will report directly to the Senior Producer of the Anime Co-Production team.
This position is specifically for applicants based in our Tokyo office.
You will collaborate closely with Producers and Senior Producers to develop and co-produce anime content in partnership with production companies. Your mission will involve attracting new fans globally through engaging narratives and high-quality animation while maintaining ongoing interest, as well as introducing new genres to the global anime community.
Your efforts will contribute to securing and supporting strong co-production projects, enhancing Crunchyroll's lineup to boost viewership, attract new subscribers, and drive revenue growth. You will also coordinate with various departments, including marketing and consumer products, both domestically and internationally, to ensure project success.
A solid understanding of content production and rights management is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Report on Crunchyroll's marketing strategy, monetization strategy, audience trends, and sub-licensing status to the production committee.
- Seek approval from the production committee for marketing and promotional plans, IP and rights usage, and consumer product planning.
- Manage and coordinate materials for co-produced projects, providing timely support to the U.S. marketing department and other internal teams as needed.
- Translate key materials to facilitate clear communication between the production committee and Crunchyroll.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of practical experience (experience in the anime industry is a plus).
- Experience in anime content production and rights management.
- Demonstrated creativity and initiative, along with the ability to execute new and efficient procedures without being bound by conventional thinking.
- Experience managing and coordinating materials for co-produced projects.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively within tight schedules.
- Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English.
About the Team
Crunchyroll is widely recognized for its content acquisition and has established itself as a key distribution and investment partner within the Japanese anime industry. The Co-Production team is part of the content division, focusing on collaboration with external partners for anime production. The strategic focus of the team is to enhance Crunchyroll's title lineup and contribute to the growth of the anime market across its service regions.
