As the Assistant Manager of Fixed Assets and Maintenance, reporting directly to the Manager of Fixed Assets & Maintenance, you will lead and sometimes oversee skilled trades and maintenance personnel in ensuring smooth building operations, repairs, and preventative maintenance initiatives. This role demands efficient resource management to uphold our facilities and support event delivery. You will ensure that the technical team is equipped with the necessary tools, equipment, and training for safe and effective performance. Regular monitoring and evaluation of work activities will be essential as you conduct inspections and assist in steering the department towards achieving optimal outcomes for all campus maintenance and asset management activities.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of REAL’s Management team, your contributions will be pivotal to the strategic planning process. You will play a vital role in developing and executing the business unit plan aimed at fulfilling the corporation's short and long-term objectives by:
- Participating in the creation, implementation, and ongoing assessment of departmental benchmarks and internal customer service standards.
- Ensuring strict adherence to department policies and procedures.
- Providing constructive feedback and performance corrections to team members to maintain policy compliance.
- Assisting in the formulation and execution of workplace safety plans while ensuring team members receive up-to-date safety training.
In your role, you will direct, implement, and evaluate maintenance services tailored to meet event, entertainment, and recreational needs by:
- Ensuring operational reliability of mechanical, electrical, heating/cooling ammonia plant, and control systems.
- Maintaining and updating the asset performance and preventative maintenance database, actively monitoring all work orders for timely completion.
- Overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of all facilities, equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Reporting on the condition status of equipment and systems, providing recommendations for identified issues.
To ensure effective financial planning for the business unit, you will:
- Contribute to the development of the department’s annual budget (capital and operational), while monitoring expenditures to manage costs effectively.
- Assist in financial forecasting and ensure budget adherence.
