The Assistant Director of Campus Life is a pivotal role responsible for managing, assisting, and advising student organizations on leadership development, membership growth, program planning, event promotion, conflict resolution, budgeting, and attendance at conferences. Collaborating closely with the Director of Campus Life, this position is tasked with designing and executing engaging student events, such as orientations and leadership workshops. Additionally, the role includes maintaining the student organization database, participating in staff training, and promoting student involvement through various committees and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement social, educational, cultural, and developmental programs for students, including the Act Six Scholars Program, Emerging Leaders Program, Student Leadership Institute, and Augsburg Student Leadership Awards.
- Evaluate the interests and needs of the student body to create comprehensive programming that fosters involvement and participation.
- Assist in implementing new day student orientation programs such as SOAR, Auggie Days, Spring SOAR, and Transfer SOAR.
- Oversee the Act Six Scholars Program, providing guidance to scholars, managing programming, and communication as the program transitions.
- Support student organizations by ensuring understanding of institutional policies related to their activities and exploring opportunities for self-directed growth.
- Advise the Augsburg Student Activities Council, Augsburg Day Student Government, and other student organizations as required.
- Assist the Director in supervising Campus Life student workers, including paraprofessionals and graduate interns.
- Act as a liaison and resource for commuter students enrolled in day programs.
Additional Responsibilities
- Conduct workshops for student organization leaders.
- Participate in university initiatives and committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
