Join the dynamic team at Middlebury College as an Assistant Coach for our Field Hockey program. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the head coach to support all facets of the field hockey program. Your primary focus will be to inspire and mentor our student-athletes, aiding their development both on and off the field while fostering a sense of community within Middlebury College.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible salaried position with a compensation range of $50,898 - $60,262 per year. The term of this appointment is anticipated from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with potential for renewal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct students on the technical and tactical elements of field hockey during practices and games.
- Identify and recruit prospective student-athletes in compliance with Middlebury College, NESCAC, and NCAA regulations.
- Assist in creating daily practice plans and preparing for various competitions, including scouting and developing strategic reports on opponents.
- Support the head coach in managing the program’s administrative tasks such as travel coordination, equipment procurement, and budget management.
- Guide and mentor student-athletes in their athletic, academic, and personal growth journeys.
- Collaborate with the head coach to deliver programming that addresses student-athlete development topics like mental health, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), leadership, and prevention of sexual violence and hazing.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the head coach or Director of Athletics, which may include event management, strength and conditioning, or teaching required Physical Education classes.
