Join Our Team as an Archaeological Technician!
SEARCH Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented Archaeological Technicians for part-time, on-call roles to assist with upcoming archaeological surveys and excavation projects across the continental United States. As an Archaeological Technician, you will work under direct supervision to conduct surveys, assessments, monitoring, and data recovery using field techniques suited to each task. Your primary responsibility will be to provide essential field support for various cultural resource projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform archaeological surveys, monitoring, and excavations for Phase I, II, and III studies.
- Follow the project health and safety plan and participate in necessary training sessions.
- Utilize both electronic and traditional navigational equipment (including GPS, iPad/ArcCollector/Survey 123, compass, and transit) to effectively navigate and execute fieldwork.
- Document artifacts, ecofacts, features, excavation units, land use, landscapes, and historic structures through detailed photographic records.
- Maintain organized and accurate field notes, maps, logs, and other project documentation.
- Collect and log artifacts and samples according to the research design.
- Assist with various tasks and errands as directed by project leadership, including the Archaeologist and Senior Archaeologist.
- Organize and maintain field equipment and supplies.
- Travel for extended periods as needed for fieldwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
