The Role
We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to spearhead our Africa team. The ideal candidate will develop and implement our Africa Group strategy, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of the economic, political, and social dynamics shaping the African market.
Who You Will Collaborate With
In this role, you will partner with the Co-Heads of our Africa Group, the Business Manager for Africa Group, and colleagues across key product areas and offices to execute the group’s strategy. This includes driving client development, identifying opportunities, conducting market analysis, managing profile-raising initiatives, and assessing return on investment.
As the first global firm to establish a dedicated Africa practice, we provide clients with integrated legal advice across the continent’s diverse legal, economic, and cultural environments. Our extensive history in Africa spans decades, serving a wide array of clients, including corporations, investors, investment banks, commercial lenders, export credit agencies, multilateral and bilateral development agencies, as well as sovereign and sub-sovereign governments.

Your Responsibilities
You will identify and capitalize on growth opportunities in the Africa market, enhance the firm’s market position, and ensure the delivery of cohesive legal solutions to our clients.
- Facilitate collaboration within the Africa group and with global strategic client teams to develop priority clients and prospects through a systematic approach.
- Drive disciplined outreach and client relationship initiatives across markets.
- Encourage cross-product collaboration by working closely with global business units and thought leadership teams.
- Maximize client relationship-building and reputation-enhancing opportunities through flagship marketing and events, in partnership with our Marketing team.
- Ensure lawyer teams are well-prepared for key business meetings.
