Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement iOS application features using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and contemporary iOS frameworks. Develop and maintain high-performance mobile applications capable of processing large datasets, such as real-time wind and weather information. Create and integrate EFB features, including location services, map navigation, and aviation instrument displays. Work on the integration of external hardware and edge devices to facilitate real-time data processing and application functionalities. Architect experiences that prioritize offline capabilities and graceful degradation to maintain full functionality in low or no connectivity situations. Implement background processing and long-running computational tasks using Swift Concurrency, async/await, and background task APIs to ensure uninterrupted user experiences. Adhere to data security best practices, including the use of Keychain storage and encryption to safeguard sensitive flight information.

Role Overview: iOS Software Engineer – Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)

This hybrid role is based in San Carlos. The iOS Software Engineer joins the mobile team to build iOS applications, primarily for iPad, that power Beacon AI’s flight safety platform. The work centers on developing features that pilots and operators rely on, with a focus on usability and precision.

What You Will Do

  • Work alongside senior engineers and designers to deliver new features for iOS EFB applications
  • Develop software that handles large aviation datasets, such as wind and weather data, with high performance
  • Build and refine aviation instrument displays for accuracy and speed
  • Integrate with external devices and enable advanced map navigation and location services
  • Design for reliability in offline and low-connectivity environments, ensuring critical features remain available
  • Contribute to robust, production-ready systems that support real-time, safety-critical operations
