About the job
At Infleqtion, we are leading the charge in the rapidly advancing quantum systems sector, pioneering the commercialization of Quantum Systems utilizing Neutral Atoms, which serve as nature's optimal sensors and qubits. This thrilling domain is on the brink of revolutionary breakthroughs, and we are at the helm of innovative projects such as our Optical Atomic Clock product, ‘Tiqker,’ the Quantum Computing system, ‘Sqale,’ and sophisticated Quantum-RF and Quantum-Inertial sensing systems.
Our upcoming quantum innovations will rely heavily on CMOS foundry-based Silicon Photonics PICs, which promise miniaturization, high-volume low-cost manufacturing, reliability, and robustness. These PIC-based devices and systems are set to transform the industry by replacing the cumbersome and costly lab-quality laser systems, precise frequency control, and atom-addressing techniques currently employed in quantum systems. To fulfill this critical need, we are expanding our integrated photonics team and are in search of experienced engineers with practical expertise in designing and testing Silicon Photonics PIC-based lasers and laser system components. Join us in redefining the landscape of quantum technology and developing products that will change the world.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate with extensive experience in integrated photonics technologies, devices, and applications. This individual will be instrumental as a founding member of our integrated photonics team at Infleqtion, collaborating closely with various quantum systems teams to pinpoint PIC opportunities and create PIC-based devices for prototype quantum systems. Furthermore, the team will work alongside suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure the provision of qualified PIC-based devices for Infleqtion's products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Quantum Systems teams on Integrated Photonics opportunities
- Design photonic components (lasers, modulators, passive devices, etc.)
- Design and layout Silicon Photonics PICs
- Work with foundry partners for PIC fabrication
- Collaborate with III-V Gain Chip suppliers for gain elements
- Partner with packaging companies to integrate gain and package devices
- Conduct lab testing of PIC-based devices, including both hands-on and automated testing
- Characterize lasers, including DC measurements, frequency noise (FN), and relative intensity noise (RIN)
- Characterize modulated laser systems, measuring high-speed waveforms, and developing measurement setups
- Evaluate micro-combs and PIC-based devices for miniature frequency combs
- Assess PIC-based approaches for addressing atoms in quantum systems
