Qualifications

Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED required. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess reliable transportation. Six college credit hours in early childhood education or an Infant/Toddler CDA preferred. Willingness to obtain an Early Childhood Development Specialization Certification (covered by the employer) within 18 months of hire. Experience working with infants and toddlers is highly desirable.

The OACAC Head Start program is actively seeking passionate and committed individuals to fill the role of Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistant and Family Advocate in our Early Head Start program. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment focused on providing the highest quality care for infants and toddlers.

As part of our dedicated team at the Buffalo Early Head Start center, you will help nurture and educate young children in our mixed-age classrooms, which accommodate up to eight children, ages birth to two years. Each classroom is staffed by three teachers who work together to offer personalized care and attention to each child.

The Family Advocate plays a crucial role in fostering a welcoming community within the center. This individual will engage with families, staff, and the local community, ensuring that families receive the support they need. Responsibilities include case management, recruitment, and registration of families. Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, flexible attitude are essential for this role.
