About the job
Merge Labs is an innovative research laboratory dedicated to merging biological sciences with artificial intelligence to enhance human capabilities and experiences. Our vision centers around pioneering new paradigms in brain-computer interfaces, ensuring they operate at high bandwidth, integrate seamlessly with advanced AI technologies, and remain safe and accessible for all users.
About Our Team:
Our Bio team is at the forefront of designing, engineering, and characterizing the biotechnologies that underpin the next generation of brain-computer interfaces. By harnessing the principles of molecular engineering, synthetic biology, and neuroscience, alongside cutting-edge physical techniques like ultrasound, we aim to establish minimally invasive, high-bandwidth connections with neurons. The Bio team is responsible for developing our core molecular technologies, validating their efficacy in both in vitro and in vivo settings, and showcasing their advanced functionalities in animal models. We pride ourselves on creating tailored experimental setups and workflows while fostering close collaborations with engineers and data scientists to address the most pressing challenges in biotechnology.
About the Role:
As an Immunologist at Merge Labs, you will play a pivotal role in designing, constructing, and validating biological strategies aimed at achieving durable immune tolerance to novel proteins that are crucial for the development of less invasive brain-computer interfaces. Your expertise will be instrumental in characterizing immune responses and devising strategies that foster immunological tolerance, thereby laying the groundwork for next-generation molecular brain-computer interfaces.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Analyzing the immunogenicity of engineered proteins, establishing quantitative metrics and benchmarks for immune compatibility in relevant in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
Scaling high-throughput immune characterization assays and workflows to facilitate rapid hypothesis testing and iteration.
Working collaboratively with our computational and protein engineering teams to devise and implement strategies that enhance immunological tolerance towards molecular components of advanced brain-computer interfaces to optimize human compatibility.
Taking technical ownership of projects from inception to execution, encompassing experimental planning, prioritization, documentation, and effective communication of results.
