About the Internship:

Planet’s Summer 2026 internships are full-time, paid positions spanning 12 weeks at our San Francisco headquarters.

Program Dates:

  • June 1 - August 21
  • June 22 - September 11

Role Overview:

The Program and Systems team at Planet is looking for an Imaging Systems Intern who will assist in the development and validation of our fleet of Earth-imaging satellites. This role is ideal for systems thinkers eager to explore the intersection of physics, hardware, and software. You will report to Imaging leadership and collaborate closely with teams in Electro Optics, Thermal, GNC, Mission Software, and Operations to ensure our imaging payloads operate effectively in both ground and orbital conditions.

This is a full-time in-office position based in San Francisco, requiring presence five days a week.

Your Impact:

  • Collaborate with spacecraft hardware, mission operations, imaging pipeline, and embedded software teams to fulfill product requirements.
  • Assist in ground and flight testing, and the operation of innovative imaging systems.
  • Support Verification & Validation (V&V) campaigns to ensure payloads meet imaging performance benchmarks.
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve issues related to imaging systems.
