S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline4+ years of professional experience in hardware engineering2+ years in electronics developmentProven experience in testing electronic, automotive, aerospace, or vehicle componentsFamiliarity with design tools such as:PCBA: Altium preferred3D Modeling: 3DExperience or Catia preferredProficient in lab equipment (Environmental Chambers, Oscilloscopes, E-loads, VNA, TDR, and spectrum analyzers)Experience with Ubuntu and Python programming

Job Title: Hardware Engineer - Test Development
Onsite in Foster City, CA | 5 days in office
Travel within Bay Area will be required
As a Hardware Engineer at Vertex Sigma Software, you will play a crucial role in the development, documentation, and execution of both component and system-level hardware testing. Your collaboration with suppliers, design engineers, and system engineers will be paramount in characterizing the functional performance of our innovative sense and compute hardware. You will handle development testing on early prototypes and qualification testing on modules intended for vehicle use. Projects will vary from interface compliance testing to creating specialized tools. We seek a proactive and enthusiastic individual eager to embrace challenges and contribute as a top-notch hardware engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Testing Execution
    • Utilize oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and various electrical/environmental test equipment
    • Create test setups using block diagrams, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and test plans
  • Test Infrastructure Development
    • Design custom test assets, including load simulators, test harnesses, and Python scripts
    • Lead test infrastructure projects by cooperating with procurement and suppliers
  • Documentation
    • Draft and present Test Plans, Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Data Reviews
    • Review and advise on documentation releases for standards, design, and risk assessments
