About the role

At SpaceX, we believe that a future where humanity explores the stars is far more exciting than one where we remain Earth-bound. Today, we are pioneering the technologies that will make this dream a reality, with the ultimate aim of establishing human life on Mars.

GUIDANCE, NAVIGATION, AND CONTROL ENGINEER (STARLINK)

SpaceX is seeking innovative engineers with expertise in orbital mechanics, control theory, state estimation, spacecraft systems design, optimization, and software development to join our Starlink guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) team. Join us in creating autopilot algorithms for thousands of satellites, forming the world's largest constellation, and connecting over two million user terminals to deliver high-speed broadband internet across the globe.

Within the Starlink GNC team, you will have the opportunity to work in specialized sub-teams focused on various aspects of our mission. Candidates will be interviewed for roles aligned with their expertise and the team's needs. Responsibilities may include:

  • Designing and optimizing satellite constellations
  • Automating fleet management and satellite orbit transfers, along with developing supporting software
  • Conducting constellation-level and network-level analyses for current and future satellite systems
  • Implementing satellite collision avoidance strategies
  • Determining and controlling satellite attitude
  • Managing satellite orbit control, including low thrust trajectory optimization and station-keeping tasks
  • Executing precision state estimation and control for various network payloads (RF antennas, laser inter-satellite links)

About SpaceX

SpaceX is at the forefront of space exploration, driven by our mission to revolutionize space technology and make life multi-planetary. Our innovative approaches and cutting-edge technologies are set to change the way we connect and interact with our universe. Join a team that is not just building rockets but also designing the future of connectivity for humanity.
