The Opportunity

We are currently on the lookout for a skilled GNC Engineer, Modeling & Simulation. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-fidelity aircraft simulation environments that support the development of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems. Your responsibilities will include implementing equations of motion in software, validating aerodynamic and plant models, and establishing the necessary simulation infrastructure for both software-in-the-loop (SITL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing.

This position is perfect for an engineer who excels in the realms of physics-based modeling, software development, and systems integration. You will collaborate closely with aerodynamicists, control engineers, and hardware teams to ensure that Mach’s autonomous platforms are meticulously modeled and rigorously tested prior to flight.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity flight dynamics and vehicle simulation models.
  • Implement equations of motion in C++ and Python for real-time and offline simulation scenarios.
  • Work alongside the aerodynamics team to integrate aerodynamic models obtained from CFD and wind tunnel experiments.
  • Conduct system identification and parameter estimation to create precise plant models.
  • Establish and maintain simulation infrastructure supporting GNC verification and validation in SITL and HITL environments.
  • Create test harnesses, logging frameworks, and automated validation tools for simulation resources.
  • Integrate with CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous regression testing and model integrity.
  • Document and uphold model assumptions and methodologies to promote clarity and efficiency.
