About the job

The Pisgah Program at SAR Academy, a prestigious Modern Orthodox co-educational day school located in Riverdale, NY, is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Occupational Therapist for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year, focusing on our Lower and Middle School divisions.

Pisgah is SAR’s integrated support program, artfully blending the necessity for intensive support with the enriching experience of being part of a vibrant school community. The program provides students with the expertise of a full-time Special Education teacher alongside various related service providers, while ensuring they are integrated within General Education classrooms. This unique hybrid model fosters peer role models and delivers the tailored support students require to thrive academically and socially.

The Occupational Therapist will collaborate closely with the diverse team of Pisgah Special Education teachers, assistants, psychologists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. This role is essential in facilitating students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and overall participation in classroom activities. The OT will provide direct therapy services as well as consultative support to educators, enhancing student access to the curriculum and helping them cultivate the functional skills necessary for academic success.

We highly value experience in supporting students with sensory regulation, fine and visual motor development, handwriting, executive functioning, and adaptive skills. Familiarity with school-based service delivery models, collaborative approaches with teachers, and the ability to interpret occupational therapy evaluations are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage a full-time caseload of students.

  • Deliver individual and small group occupational therapy sessions.

  • Provide in-class support to facilitate student engagement in academic and daily school activities.

  • Conduct thorough occupational therapy evaluations and assist in the creation of personalized goals and intervention strategies.

  • Engage in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure cohesive support for students.

  • Work collaboratively with Pisgah educators to meet students’ sensory, motor, and functional needs within the classroom environment.

  • Offer strategies and consultative support to teachers and assistants to enhance student independence and participation.

  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and development.

  • Ensure thorough documentation and preparation of bi-annual Progress Reports for each student.
