Educational/Experience Requirements:Compliance with the credentialing standards of Anne Arundel Medical Center as per nursing bylaws. Current licensure as a registered nurse in Maryland or a recent graduate from a medical school. Required Licenses/Certifications:Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) or equivalent certification is preferred.

Luminis Health seeks a full-time Lactation Consultant for day shifts at its Annapolis, MD location. This role centers on providing bedside lactation support and expert guidance to mothers facing breastfeeding challenges.

What You Will Do

  1. Apply knowledge of counseling, personality, and family theories to deliver comprehensive breastfeeding support and education to patients and their families.
  2. Assess patients and families to gather relevant information, identify learning needs, and ensure care aligns with established standards and policies.
  3. Develop tailored breastfeeding care plans for each mother-baby pair, prioritizing needs and setting shared goals.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, revising them as needed based on patient responses.
  5. Take part in communication and decision-making within lactation services and maternal-child health teams.
  6. Oversee selection and management of breastfeeding-related retail and rental supplies, including breast pump services.
  7. Foster an educational atmosphere by planning and leading in-service training sessions, including orientation for new staff.
  8. Coordinate and deliver lactation services for all breastfeeding patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  9. Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, participate in unit governance, and build collaborative relationships across the healthcare team.
  10. Contribute to quality assurance programs to maintain high standards in lactation services and monitor financial performance.
