No prior teaching experience is necessary! Our Faculty Development training program equips you with the essential tools for classroom success. Possess a valid, active license from the State Board of Registered Nursing. Hold a Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution, including coursework in nursing or education, with a focus on OB, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry. At least four years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care. A minimum of one year of clinical experience within the last five years, with clinical teaching counting towards direct patient care experience. Must be clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c). Specialized knowledge in one of the following nursing areas: Psychiatric, Geriatrics, Med/Surg, Pediatrics, OB-Gyn, or Mental Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow instructors to prepare, administer, and evaluate examinations for the course, contributing to final course assessments.
  • Ensure accurate class attendance records and timely submission of grades.
  • Assist in strategic planning and evaluation of instructional initiatives to uphold program quality.
  • Facilitate the orientation of new faculty in both theoretical and clinical settings.
  • Employ teaching strategies that acknowledge adult learners' unique characteristics.
  • Commit to ongoing enhancement of instructional quality.
  • Demonstrate or be willing to develop skills in utilizing online resources to enrich course content during interactive teaching sessions.
  • Maintain comprehensive student records, including attendance and skills check-off forms, and aid in program data collection.
  • Timely submission of required program documentation to the program Director.
  • Stay informed of new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Engage in committee activities that align with the nursing program's mission and objectives.
  • Attend faculty meetings regularly.
  • Oversee and coordinate student clinical experiences at designated healthcare facilities.
  • Assess student performance against clinical learning outcomes per Unitek College's policies and procedures.
  • Provide immediate feedback on clinical performance following observations.
  • Ensure clinical assignments fulfill both student and facility needs.
  • Identify effective methods for observing, instructing, and evaluating students.
  • Verify that clinical facilities comply with health and safety standards for Unitek College students.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication with students through office hours and electronic channels.
  • Participate in student advising initiatives.
