Role overview
Mercura is looking for a Founding Design Engineer in Munich to define and deliver both the visual and functional aspects of its product. This position partners closely with the Chief Product Officer and engineering team. The focus: create clean, intuitive interfaces for non-technical users and bring those designs to life in production. The work spans customer research, interface design, and hands-on coding.
What you will do
- Meet with customers to understand their needs, then turn those insights into product specifications and interface designs.
- Prototype quickly using AI tools and code, testing ideas with real users.
- Design and build user-friendly, AI-powered interfaces that streamline complex B2B workflows.
- Take ownership of the process from design through production, collaborating with engineers to deliver new features.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience as a design engineer, product designer, or frontend engineer, with a portfolio featuring AI and complex B2B SaaS products.
- Interest in working directly with customers to identify problems and shape solutions.
- Proficiency with AI tools (such as Lovable, Cursor, Claude) and Figma for rapid design and prototyping.
- Experience shipping code to production using React, Typescript, and Python. This role combines both design and engineering work.
