Your Opportunity
We are seeking dynamic, customer-centric software engineers who are passionate about creating tailored software solutions that utilize OpenAI’s cutting-edge APIs to address complex client challenges. As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer (FDSWE), you will partner with clients and fellow OpenAI engineers to design and implement robust solutions that tackle their most pressing issues. Your role will involve conceptualizing abstractions to enhance service delivery speed and quality across all Forward Deployed projects.
You will closely collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architects, and Customer Success Managers working on the same accounts. Additionally, you will engage with our Research and Applied Product teams to relay valuable customer insights.
This position is based in Munich, utilizing a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office weekly. We offer relocation assistance and anticipate travel of up to 50%.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with strategic clients to deeply understand their business hurdles and technical needs.
Design, architect, and build full-stack solutions employing an experimental and iterative methodology.
Develop comprehensive scopes of work and project timelines for both proof-of-concept initiatives and full-scale deployments.
Engage hands-on with clients' technical teams as a trusted advisor, collaborating side-by-side to drive projects to successful completion on their infrastructure.
Partner with Product, Research, and Applied teams to ensure exceptional customer experiences, project success, and actionable product feedback.
Contribute to internal knowledge repositories, codifying best practices and sharing insights from customer interactions to scale the Forward Deployed Engineering function.
Qualifications for Success
A minimum of 7 years of professional full-stack engineering experience (excluding internships) in relevant roles within tech and product-focused organizations, with a preference for customer-facing experience.
Proficient in various programming languages and frameworks, with a robust understanding of both back-end and front-end technologies.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills, with an aptitude for translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
