About the job
Relativity Space is building rockets that aim to meet today’s launch needs and anticipate future demands. The Terran R vehicle is central to this mission, delivering customer payloads to orbit and expanding launch capacity. Success with Terran R will open doors for new scientific and commercial opportunities, pushing the boundaries of aerospace innovation.
At Relativity’s Long Beach facility, teams work with a high degree of autonomy and ownership. Engineers and specialists from propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, and corporate functions collaborate closely, making decisions that shape both products and processes. The company values creativity and technical skill, encouraging team members to take on challenges that have not been solved before.
Propulsion Team Focus
The Propulsion team is responsible for designing and delivering high-performance engines for Terran R. Engineers manage components through every stage: from concept and design to production, qualification, and flight. The team emphasizes collaborative decision-making and accountability, with each member having a direct impact on outcomes.
Current efforts include qualifying the flight configuration and developing modifications for future engines. This work covers increasing thrust, exploring new engine cycles, and refining designs for efficient mass production. Working on engines that generate a quarter million pounds of thrust is just the starting point.
