About the job
ABOUT ROCKET LAB
At Rocket Lab, we are pioneers in the space industry, offering comprehensive launch services, spacecraft design, manufacturing, and payload solutions, all aimed at making space accessible to everyone. Our innovative rockets and satellites support vital global missions in scientific exploration, Earth observation, and climate change initiatives, while also enhancing national security and demonstrating cutting-edge technologies.
Our Electron rocket is the second most frequently launched U. S. rocket, having successfully placed over 230 satellites into orbit. We are also in the process of developing Neutron, our next-generation medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle designed for deploying large satellite constellations. Our Space Systems division is responsible for designing and building a diverse range of satellites and components, including those selected for NASA missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as equipment used in the James Webb Space Telescope.
NEUTRON
Neutron is our medium-lift launch vehicle, engineered to deliver the megaconstellations of the future, high-assurance payloads, and support human spaceflight. Leveraging the proven success of our Electron program, Neutron will provide a cost-effective and reliable launch solution.
FLUID SYSTEMS ENGINEER II
As a Fluid Systems Engineer II for the Neutron project, you will take the lead in designing, constructing, and testing the fluid systems integral to the Neutron launch vehicle. You will work closely with a talented team of engineers in the Fluid Systems department, transforming vehicle-level requirements into a fluid network that ensures Neutron operates with exceptional reusability and reliability akin to aircraft standards.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO
- Conduct trade studies and sizing using analytical models, hand calculations, or test data to define essential elements of system architecture.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members both within and beyond the fluids team to inform best practices for fluid system design, testing, and operations.
- Lead critical design, manufacturing, and testing reviews for fluid systems.
- Collaborate with component design teams to create integrated solutions.
