The Survey Instrument Operator plays a crucial role in supporting Land Surveyors and Party Chiefs by applying principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering and land surveying. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in Field Crew operations to gather field data for boundary surveys, topographical assessments, and construction stakeout surveys.
- Learning to operate essential tools such as total stations, levels, GPS units, and data collectors for effective survey data collection.
- Collaborating on construction stakeout projects under the guidance of a Party Chief, including tasks related to curb and gutter, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline, and structural projects.
- Maintaining and ensuring the proper upkeep of surveying instruments.
- Documenting clear and precise field notes accompanied by sketches.
- Working effectively in a team environment while being adaptable to varying weather conditions.
