Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) Academy seeks a Math Instructor for its Waltham, MA campus. This in-person role focuses on teaching advanced math to small groups of young learners using AoPS’s curriculum. Candidates should live in or near Waltham and be able to commute to the campus.
What You Will Do
- Teach math classes of up to 16 students using AoPS’s curriculum for advanced learners.
- Encourage active participation and student-led learning in the classroom.
- Manage classroom dynamics and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Assess student progress through tests and provide constructive feedback.
- Build relationships with students and their families to support educational growth.
- Promote critical thinking and help students develop a lasting interest in mathematics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Degree in a STEM field or education is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mathematics is essential.
- Prior teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
- Experience in K-12 classroom settings is preferred.
Certification
- No formal teaching credential required for this position.
Schedule and Commitment
- Classes take place after school (starting as early as 4 PM) and on weekends.
- Minimum commitment is about 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
- Each course meets once a week for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
