Role overview
The Data Engineer in Singapore will build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers analytics, product insights, and downstream systems at BJAK. Collaboration with analytics, product, and engineering teams is central to keeping data reliable, accessible, and production-ready at scale.
Main responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, both batch and streaming, for business and product data.
- Integrate data from APIs, databases, event streams, and third-party sources, with attention to quality and reliability.
- Create and manage data models and storage solutions such as data warehouses and data lakes to support analytics and applications.
- Work with analytics, product, and engineering teams to deliver clean, well-documented datasets for self-service analytics and experimentation.
- Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure pipeline reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Follow data governance practices, including access control, privacy, documentation, and tracking data lineage.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Engineering, data-focused Backend Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficient programming skills in Python and/or TypeScript, with strong SQL knowledge.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and analytics workflows.
- Hands-on experience with data warehouse platforms such as BigQuery or Snowflake.
- Proven ability to build and manage production-grade data pipelines.
Preferred skills
- Experience with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Familiarity with streaming technologies like Kafka or Pub/Sub.
