The Opportunity
As the technical leader in our quality team, you will play a pivotal role in defining the quality standards and process controls for our inaugural certified aircraft, Midnight. Your expertise will be crucial in helping us achieve the highest safety levels akin to commercial airlines while making urban air transport accessible to everyone, thus setting a benchmark for the emerging advanced air mobility sector. This is a contract position with an expected duration of approximately six months.
What You’ll Do
- As the lead Metrologist at Archer, you will report to the Head of Quality and be responsible for the development and management of the metrology program.
- Drive the development and implementation of metrology tools to ensure that Midnight adheres to its design specifications.
- Lead the creation of an aircraft inspection plan during the testing phase at both our San Jose and Covington facilities.
- Oversee the verification processes for the Midnight program, utilizing a risk-based approach to inspection, including design reviews and tolerance stack-up analyses.
- Champion the development and deployment of advanced metrology equipment such as laser trackers and Faro arms.
- Specific tasks include establishing critical wing dimensions with laser trackers, implementing GearPro on CMMs at Archer, and creating training programs for inspectors to measure vital propeller features.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to embed quality principles into all business processes.
