About Mission Bit
At Mission Bit, a nonprofit organization situated in San Francisco, we are dedicated to empowering youth of color to delve into the exciting world of STEM through project-based computer science education that honors their unique identities. Our diverse range of hands-on STEM educational programs includes biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses designed to inspire and engage.
The Role
As the Lead Instructor for the Intro to Web Design course, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional computer science education. Your mission will be to connect with students, cultivating an engaging and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Utilizing Mission Bit’s innovative project-based curriculum, you will plan and execute three lessons per week. This role is highly visible and student-focused, with a direct reporting line to the Director of Education.
We take pride in equipping all instructional staff with comprehensive training to prepare them for teaching, complemented by ongoing support throughout the semester. If you are passionate about community engagement, social justice, and coding, and are eager to uplift Bay Area youth while bridging the technology gap, this opportunity is tailored for you!
This is a seasonal, semester-based, remote position based in San Francisco, CA, with employment dates from June 11 - August 6, 2026.
Schedule
Training and onboarding:
- Asynchronous remote training: June 11, 2026, 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM and June 15, 2026, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Live in-person training (for both in-person and remote instructors): June 16 - 18, 2026, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM in San Francisco, CA
- Classroom site visits (for in-person instructors only): 1 hour visit on June 18, 2026
Class dates:
- Tuesdays through Thursdays, starting June 23 through July 30, 2026, from 9:45 AM - 2:45 PM, which includes instructor preparation and wrap-up time.
Demo Day:
- July 31, 2026 (tentative; location and time to be determined)
Required weekly meetings:
- Weekly Instructor Circles: Mondays from 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM via Google Meets with the instructional team
- Weekly co-instructor planning meetings: 30 minutes per week
End-of-semester wrap-up:
- August 3 - 6, 2026
Total weekly hours:
- Approximately 16 hours per week
What You Will Be Doing:
70% Teaching, Preparation, and Student Support
- Foster a sense of community and inclusivity in the classroom, exemplifying Mission Bit's core values of social justice, community, accountability, calculated risks, and compassion.
- Design and facilitate two lessons per week tailored to a diverse group of learners, adapting instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Guide students in developing a comprehensive understanding necessary for their final projects, which will be showcased during our Demo Day.
