Position Overview
The Business Sector Lead for Planning is responsible for driving strategic and operational leadership, as well as market growth, across various service areas including Agency Staffing, Community Planning, Environmental Compliance, Housing, and Natural Resources. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Planning and Government Solutions, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our Planning sector.
This position demands a comprehensive understanding of planning services across diverse markets such as Transportation, Water, Land Development, and Energy. The Business Sector Lead will ensure top-notch project delivery, exceptional client service, talent development, and robust financial performance, all while aligning with BKF’s strategic growth objectives. A key focus will be fostering interdepartmental collaboration and driving innovative service delivery. The SVP Planning will collaborate closely with market, regional, and functional leaders to elevate BKF's stature in the Planning sector.
Core Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Direction:
- Devise and implement a comprehensive multi-year strategic plan for the Planning sector that aligns with BKF's overarching vision and goals.
- Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, including geographical expansion, introduction of new service lines, and major project pursuits.
- Evaluate merger and acquisition prospects that fit within our corporate strategy.
- Develop strategies to effectively integrate acquisitions, unlocking synergies to promote growth.
Team Building & Development:
- Attract, mentor, and cultivate a team of professionals, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and integrity. Support ongoing professional development and succession planning.
- Lead talent acquisition and succession planning for key roles within the sector.
- Oversee resource allocation, ensuring optimal use of personnel, equipment, and materials for successful project execution.
Financial Management:
- Direct the annual business plan, budgeting, and long-term forecasting for the Planning sector. Manage the P&L for all service areas to ensure revenue growth, profitability, and healthy backlog.
