Role overview
As a Chemistry and Python Specialist, projects involve designing and validating advanced computational chemistry problems. These tasks often require Python programming and a strong grasp of research workflows in chemistry. Contributors may:
- Create complex chemistry problems that reflect current research practices
- Design problem sets requiring Python solutions, using tools like NumPy, SciPy, and specialized chemical libraries
- Ensure problems are computationally intensive, beyond manual resolution within days or weeks
- Develop questions that call for advanced reasoning in physical chemistry, quantum chemistry, or molecular modeling
- Base problems on real research scenarios or practical chemistry applications
- Validate solutions using Python and established computational chemistry techniques
- Document problem statements clearly and provide verified solutions
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry or a closely related field
- Strong Python skills for numerical validation; experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, or libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy is also considered
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in applied research or teaching
- Knowledge of numerical methods in chemistry
- Solid understanding of computational chemistry principles
- Excellent written English (C1 proficiency or higher)
