POSITION SUMMARY:
The Phlebotomy Services Center (PSC) Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care by determining the most effective methods for blood specimen collection, preparing samples for laboratory analysis, and conducting essential screening procedures. This role also entails managing the operational aspects of the designated PSC while overseeing Natera's phlebotomy program. As the organization grows, the PSC Manager may be tasked with supervising additional phlebotomists to accommodate increasing patient volumes. **If your state mandates a phlebotomy license, please include it with your resume upon application submission.**
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure accuracy of test requisitions by validating information against orders and documentation; escalate any discrepancies to Natera's product management team.
Verify patient identity by reviewing identification details.
Collect blood specimens through procedures such as venipuncture and finger sticks.
Preserve specimen integrity using aseptic techniques and adhering to Natera protocols, including isolation procedures.
Document collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting collection times while maintaining daily collection records in the Natera system.
Ensure quality results by consistently following Natera's procedures and testing schedules; document outcomes in the quality-control log and report necessary changes and KPIs to management biweekly.
Foster a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and regulations.
Address unusual test orders by liaising with physicians, pathologists, nursing stations, or reference laboratories; refer unresolved orders back to the originating party for further clarification, keeping the internal Natera team informed.
Continually enhance job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities, reading professional literature, and participating in relevant professional organizations.
