The role works closely with suppliers as well as internal teams in engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing. Main responsibilities Choose suppliers for specific products from the approved list. Partner with strategic suppliers to accelerate product development by: Scoping concepts and defining technical requirements. Analyzing feature trade-offs and preparing trade tables. Building should-cost and clean sheet models. Collaborating on joint design development with clear statements of work. Simulating mechanical and electronics designs. Order and manage inventory for prototype and New Product Introduction (NPI) builds. Oversee the creation and consolidation of manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOM), coordinating with Quality and Manufacturing teams to support flexible production ramp-up. Manage capital expenditures during the NPI phase. Map value streams to improve efficiency and flexibility in the supply network. Assess BOM risks, including identifying alternate sources for components. Ensure all component qualifications are completed before production begins. Simplify processes by optimizing common components and rationalizing suppliers or parts. Lead cost engineering to align product costs with bottoms-up cost curves, focusing on total cost of ownership across the product lifecycle. Address ad-hoc cost issues, such as tariffs and inflation. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in sourcing engineering, supplier management, or design of electronic and mechanical devices. Demonstrated skills in value or procurement engineering, or experience with total cost of ownership (TCO) at both component and product levels. Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
