Each month, one million patients in the U.S. request referrals from their physicians to mental health providers. However, most of these physicians, primarily affiliated with large hospital groups (Health Systems), lack a trustworthy partner for referrals. Consequently, millions of patients remain without the mental healthcare they require. Join us in transforming mental healthcare for the better.As a Senior Staff Data Scientist specializing in Bayesian Experimentation and Causal Inference, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how Headway learns from data, particularly in high-stakes environments with noisy signals. Reporting directly to the Head of Data, you will lead initiatives to establish standards, frameworks, and enhance decision quality across Product, Growth, Operations, and Finance.Your contributions will establish foundational methodologies for addressing critical questions such as:Did this action lead to the desired outcome?What is our level of certainty, and how should we respond to that uncertainty?What evidence is compelling enough to warrant changes in strategy, policy, or budget allocation?A key objective of this role is to create and institutionalize a comprehensive understanding of “what we know” about patients, providers, and payers, complete with explicit confidence levels that directly inform business actions. This shared language will help prevent the organization from misinterpreting correlations as definitive laws while maintaining agility.Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish Causal Inference and Experimentation Standards: Define the standard methods, guidelines, documentation, and review processes for experiments and quasi-experiments, including the appropriate application of Bayesian methods.Develop the Confidence Ladder: Build a systematic approach to assess and communicate confidence levels regarding findings.
