Position Overview
The Principal of StepStone Real Estate (SRE) will be pivotal in cultivating and managing discretionary and advisory client relationships within a collaborative, tech-savvy team environment. This position falls under our Manager Research team, which oversees primary fund investments and client service for discretionary accounts, whether holistic or primarily focused. The ideal candidate should possess training and experience in the strategic assembly of real estate portfolios, taking into account client goals, constraints, and market opportunities while demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate strategies.
The role is primarily focused on commingled fund investments, entailing manager coverage and oversight of investment evaluations, including Fund Summaries, Investment Committee memos, and other necessary materials. The candidate will also assume a senior position on client accounts, responsible for making portfolio construction and investment recommendations to clients and SRE’s internal committees.
Essential Job Functions:
As a client coverage manager, your success will hinge on becoming a trusted advisor and executing effectively. This requires a blend of top-down portfolio construction and bottom-up investment selection, aimed at delivering portfolios that align with client goals and drive outperformance. The position includes a formal portfolio planning framework, and candidates are encouraged to contribute to its enhancement over time. Responsibilities encompass delivering prompt and accurate client service, guiding clients effectively, facilitating client onboarding, leveraging specialized skills from StepStone as needed, and managing supporting resources and teams.
