About the Role:
The CIH Data & Analytics team creates insightful, data-driven research and content that assist agents, consumers, and the media in understanding the dynamics of housing markets. We are on the lookout for a Data Journalist who can uncover compelling stories within the data and present them engagingly to a wide audience.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Economist to convert housing market analyses into editorial content, including reports, commentaries, social media posts, and visualizations, all of which should be accurate, captivating, and grounded in solid data.
Key Responsibilities:
Writing & Editing
- Draft and refine market reports, economic commentaries, and narrative summaries of housing data tailored for agents, consumers, and media outlets.
- Translate quantitative analysis findings into narratives that resonate with non-expert audiences.
- Edit content from the economics team to ensure clarity, structure, and narrative flow.
- Contribute to regular publications, including market outlooks, regional reports, and luxury market analyses.
Data Journalism & Research
- Analyze housing and economic datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and compelling stories.
- Work with the Chief Economist to craft story angles and contextualize data findings into editorial pieces.
- Verify data claims and uphold accuracy and consistency across all published materials.
Data Visualization
- Create charts, graphics, and interactive visualizations that effectively communicate data insights.
- Establish a cohesive visual style for Compass's research output across various formats, including reports, presentations, and social media.
- Utilize tools like Flourish, Datawrapper, or similar platforms.
Content Distribution
- Adapt research content for diverse formats and channels, including social media, emails, press releases, and agent-focused communications.
