Position OverviewThe Receiving Supervisor will oversee all receiving and storage operations while managing inventory effectively. This role emphasizes the establishment and implementation of best practices for daily operations, which include receiving, storage, inventory control, customer backorder recovery, space optimization, and third-party logistics (3PL) management. The supervisor will be pivotal in fostering a culture of mentoring, coaching, and lean practices to achieve objectives such as safety, quality, productivity, cost efficiency, customer service, and inventory accuracy.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee receiving operations, ensuring that incoming shipments are accurately unloaded, verified, and sorted in a timely manner.Manage storage, inventory control, and recovery of customer backorders, ensuring seamless coordination with third-party logistics.Uphold safety standards and OSHA regulations while maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment.Implement Lean practices such as Kaizen events and value stream mapping to promote continuous improvement.Utilize data analytics to optimize workflow, enhance customer service, and streamline material flow.Conduct regular audits to identify areas for process improvement and foster a mindset of continuous enhancement.Monitor and manage operational costs associated with receiving functions.Collaborate with production, purchasing, inventory, and logistics teams for efficient material flow and operational synergy.Develop strategies to enhance efficiency and accuracy within receiving operations.Ensure the accuracy of inventory records through regular audits and reconciliations.Maintain comprehensive receiving documentation, including packing lists and manifests.Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP, or similar tools to manage inventory transactions effectively.Train and mentor receiving staff while overseeing performance and providing development opportunities.
