About the job
Join Toyota Research Institute (TRI) to Enhance Human Life through AI
At TRI, we are dedicated to advancing the quality of human experiences by developing innovative tools and capabilities in AI, robotics, driving, and material sciences. We strive to spearhead a transformative shift in mobility through our world-class team.
The Team
Our Automated Driving Advanced Development (AD2) division is at the forefront of innovation at Toyota. We bridge TRI research with Toyota's products and services through collaboration and shared commitment. Our new division is leading a cross-organizational initiative with Woven by Toyota, focusing on research and development of a fully end-to-end learned driving stack, aligning with TRI’s robotics efforts in Diffusion Policy and Large Behavior Models.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a dedicated Machine Learning Research Engineer to explore interpretable AI methods for learning-based automated driving systems. This role is perfect for hands-on researchers keen on foundational challenges in autonomy, interpretability, and safety. Collaborating closely with senior researchers and engineers, you will develop techniques that enhance the interpretability, diagnosability, and verifiability of end-to-end neural driving policies while maintaining performance and scalability. Your contributions will assist in creating “glass-box” models that empower engineers and researchers to understand, debug, and validate learned driving behaviors more effectively.
