Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design and deployment of advanced energy systems, including power infrastructure, battery energy storage, and distributed energy resources (DERs). This on-site position in Long Beach calls for strong knowledge of electrical codes, a thoughtful approach to compliance, and a drive to innovate within established standards.
Collaboration is central to the work at Critical Loop. The team values engineers who move ideas quickly from concept to real-world deployment and who approach complex power challenges with both creativity and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and engineering for power systems, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and DER integrations.
- Design and review electrical distribution systems: switchgear, panelboards, and custom electrical panels.
- Create and review single-line diagrams, protection schemes, grounding plans, and equipment specifications.
- Engage with customers and partners for technical discussions, project development, and resolving issues.
- Participate in site visits, commissioning, and field troubleshooting as needed.
- Ensure all designs comply with NEC, local codes, UL standards, and utility requirements, while seeking creative, compliant solutions.
- Work closely with product, manufacturing, and operations teams to move projects from concept through commissioning.
- Interface with utilities, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and inspection bodies to support project approvals.
- Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analyses, to validate system performance.
- Stay current with evolving codes, standards, and new technologies in the energy sector.
